These pole tip protectors seem to work well on hard surfaces. I have not yet used them on soft surfaces.

The tip protectors are v. Good quality and delivery was fast. Shipping charges are a bit hefty for such a small item however. If you have a store near you that carries them it will be worth the trip. My closest is over an hour away.
